Aspherical Lenses
Pacer offers a wide selection of Standard Molded Aspheric and Infrared lenses available from Rochester Precision Optics. Previously known as Kodak Optical Imaging Systems (KOIS), RPO has a rich heritage of excellence and expertise, and delivers complete optical manufacturing solutions from an ultra modern facility.
Originally developed for rapidly producing aspheric lenses, the Precision Glass Molding
(PGM) technology was later adapted to mass-produce aspheric lenses in support of larger lens systems. Optical designers were then able to incorporate aspheric elements into high volume designs, reducing lead times and lowering costs.
Today at Rochester Precision Optics, the PGM process offers custom molded glass aspheric lenses in sizes from 1mm to 60mm in diameter. The highly repeatable PGM process is accomplished by heating and press forming optical grade glass blanks (preforms) using ultra precision tooling. RPO’s vertical integration allows for in-house manufacturing of all tooling, molds, preform fabrication, centering and AR coating.
These molded lenses can have spherical, aspherical and biaspherical surfaces. Molding can be accomplished with a large range of glasses, and unlike many molders, RPO is not restricted to using only low transformation temperature (Tg) glasses.
Rochester Precision Optics produces standard aspheric lenses in a wide range of focal lengths and numerical apertures which provide diffraction limited performance. Standard catalog lenses are offered with three broadband AR coatings covering wave lengths from 400nm – 1600nm. Custom broadband coatings and V-coatings can also be provided for your specific application.
