Alphanumeric OLED
Alphanumeric OLED displays are formatted with a fixed alphanumeric character count, for example 2 rows of 8 characters each. Standard alphanumeric OLEDs are typically monochrome.
The benefits of OLED all apply – alphanumeric OLEDs are lightweight displays with excellent contrast, sharp images and a darker black background than other display technologies. A serial bus such as I2C or SPI can be used to control the pixel array, rather than a more complex RGB interface or microcontroller interface, and so far fewer control lines are needed, making alphanumeric OLEDs easier to drive than TFT displays. OLED displays are very suitable for handheld instrumentation, industrial equipment, automotive and medical displays, portable media players and audio visual display systems.
